Why stars (light)
The night sky is mostly empty. The dominant color is black, displaying an infinite landscape of darkness. However, the void of the night sky is not what typically catches our gaze. Little pin pricks of light catch our attention, they cause us to pause and wonder about the beauty that might exist in distant areas of the universe. They twinkle and flicker making them feel much closer than they really are. They make us wonder if we are not alone, and if there is a greater plan for each of us. I've always been fascinated by light. Some of my fondest early memories are that of night drives watching street lights pass, of apartment buildings with scattered windows lit up, and of laying outdoors watching the stars.
To me light represents hope, I gravitate towards others who hope for a better future and are inspired to create new and amazing contributions to the world, whether that be through art, technology, or just serving others. We waste too much time and energy focused on the darkness, the negative aspects of the world, and our own shortcomings. We all collectively benefit when we choose to let light outshine the darkness. When we hope for a better future and act to create new light the world prospers.
I am honored to get the opportunity to work alongside some of the most brilliant minds in the world, shaping the future, and improving our collective experience. I love the quote from Oscar Wilde's play, Lady Windermere's Fan...
We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.
— Oscar Wilde
I will continue to seek out light and hope to spread as much of it as I can during my lifetime.
